Tuesday  – Men’s Galatians Study at The Priory Hotel continues in January – 6:30am to 8:30am
Is your faith experience shallow and leaving you wanting more? Are you hungry to experience the power of God in the context of locking arms with brothers in Christ? This may be the group and the teaching series for you! The letter from Paul to the Galatians has spoken timeless truth to the church for 2,000 years. Its focus, in six short chapters is the magnificent gospel of grace in Christ. Paul’s passion for this glorious gospel is demonstrated in Galatians in three main areas. These are: cherishing the gospel, proclaiming the gospel, and defending the gospel. For our application, cherishing relates to the personal treasure that the gospel must become to us.  Before we can proclaim the good news we must experience it deeply and personally (i.e. “the Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are sons of God”). We cannot impart to others what we haven’t first received. In my journey with Christ over the past 30 years the gospel has become my passion as well. Please join us every Tuesday morning at The Priory Hotel in the down stairs conference room(614 Pressley St., Pgh, 15212). Our series will run for 24 Weeks. You will grow from both this important teaching and the experience of authentic Christian community. It will bring about deep, personal renewal to you and maybe even your church. We’ll have hot coffee and Priory pastries waiting! Please visit our resources page to  download and print off the pdf’s of our series.

Wednesday – New Group starting January 4th, 2012
A new discussion group will be starting in January, and will be working through “Spiritual Formation” by Henry Nouen. This book is richly biblical and practical. Bill Krahe is a big reader of Henry Nouen’s books, and is well equipped in leading our men each week. There is a solid band of brothers in the hopper and we welcome newcomers. Don’t worry if you miss a few sessions. The books are in and the Holy Spirit’s got one with your name already on it! This group meets on Wednesdays from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at Amani Café (507 Foreland St., Pgh, 15212) on the North Side.

Wednesday Night Recovery Group continuing in January
This group meets every Wednesday night from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at 417 Tripoli St., PGH, 15212 on the North Side, and is led by John Taormina. John is well equipped to be the servant leader of this group. He has a great deal of training working with people in recovery along with his personal journey of faith and sobreity. The group is designed to provide healing for men in recovery through Jesus Christ, the Bible, and real brothers. The focus of the study is a discipleship workbook entitled, “Growing In Christ” by Navigators. Discussion each week brings together God’s word in application to our lives in relevant, practical ways.

Women’s Evening Bible Study
We are so excited to tell you about a new study that we will be offering beginning Jan. 18th, James: Mercy Triumphs, by Beth Moore (watch the promotion from Beth Moore here). Details on the study are below:

James, Jesus’ own brother, started out as a skeptic. See how one glimpse of the resurrected Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple with Beth Moore’s study James: Mercy Triumphs. Once you get to know both the man and the Book of James, you’ll never be the same again.  Bible scholars compare James to the prophet Amos. In other ways, James more closely resembles the Book of Proverbs than any New Testament book. James is a book with many topics — social justice, joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility, and prayer — all of which are covered in this study (there will be 8 video sessions with 7 weeks of print study).

Instead of the young women, age 13-18, meeting separately, they will watch the DVD’s with us, then break up for their own fellowship and small group discussion time.  They will have their own workbook and do the same study of the Word.

Each workbook will cost $15, and we will meet at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8225 Peebles Road (near McIntyre Square) from 7-9 pm on the following dates: January 18, February 1,15,29, March 14,28, April 11,25.  That’s it! Just twice a month for a total of 8 sessions.  And if this is your first study with us, be prepared.  We are just a bunch of broken women who do not have it all together, but desperately want more of the only thing that gives us hope, joy, contentment, satisfaction and peace… JESUS.

Please email Dawn to let us know you are coming so that we can order you a workbook.  And feel free to invite a friend or neighbor!

Thursdays at Panera Bread on McKnight Road
This group meets every Thursday morning from 7 am to 8:30 am at the Panera Bread in the North Hills (7217 McKnight Road, Pgh, 15237). This co-ed group led by Brennan Gaertner is currently studying in the Book of Acts. Lloyd Ogilvie’s Commentary on the Book of Acts is a reference being utilized for those desiring a supplement to our scriptural study. The group is open to all newcomers!
